Beyond our scope of moving services, we would like to suggest a few moving tips so that your move goes as smoothly as possible.
Personal Items and information
Clearly mark and set aside items you don't want load. Make sure to point out these items to your crew during the pre-load walkthrough.

Please be sure to remove or set aside the following items during the moving process. Keep these items accessible yet secure for the duration of your move:

Credit Cards, Deeds, Check Books, Contact Lenses, Eyeglasses, Cash, Securities, Prescription Medicine, Personal Photos, other presonal papers.

Because of the sensitive nature of these items, transit insurance will not cover them for loss or damage.

Refrigerator/Freezer
Empty of all food items, clean and dry thoroughly. Unplug and leave doors open for 24 hours prior to loading. Glass shelves should be removed in order for the moving service team to pack.

Electronics
Disconnect all wires, wrap and mark them accordingly. If available, provide the original packing containers to your moving service team. Remove all CDs, tapes, and diskettes from CD players, tape decks, VCRs, DVD players and computer drives.

Antiques/High-Value Items
If you have high-value items such as silverware and artwork, we recommend a professional appraisal before the items are moved. High-value items are defined as anything with a value in excess of $100.00 per pound per item. They include (but aren't limited to) collections, plants, artwork and memorabilia. High-value monetary items, such as money, fine jewelry, coin collections, etc., are not covered for loss or damage by transit insurances; therefore, we ask that these items not be included with the rest of the goods scheduled to be moved by our company.

Tax and Closing Documents
Please make sure your tax and home closing documents are separated and not packed. This is especially important if your shipment is going into storage. Keep your bill of lading, you may need it for tax purposes.

Prohibited Items
For safety reasons, and per Department of Transportation regulations, our moving service teams are prohibited from moving the following items:
  • Aerosol Cans
  • Canned Soft Drinks
  • Explosive Gas Tanks
  • Corrosives
  • Ammunition
  • Any Perishable Foods
  • Paint/Thinners Flammables
  • Propane Tanks

Additional Moving Tips to Consider...
  • Avoid scheduling your closings on the day your move is to take place.
  • Have a garage sale to get rid of everything you don't want to take with you. Remember, everything we move costs you more money! Use the money you make to buy something nice for your new home!
  • After you've completely cleaned out your refrigerator, put a handful of fresh coffee or baking soda in a nylon stocking and place it inside to keep the interior fresh.
  • Since sometimes dressers are moved full, remove all breakables and heavy items such as watches, jewelry and books prior to packing.
  • Pack a few boxes with things you will need when you first arrive at your new home, and mark them "Unpack first." Remember to include basic tools, cleaning supplies, towels, toilet paper, light bulbs, a first aid kit, paper plates and cups, and snack foods.
  • When moving in electronic appliances, such as PCs, be sure to let them acclimate to room temperature before plugging them in.
